A NATURAL HISTORY CAMPAIGN calling forth NATURALISTS through EDUCATION, PHOTOGRAPHY, and the power of JOURNALING.
Modern man is starved for nature.
Nature Journaling is here to remedy that.
Nature journaling is the mere act of observing the natural world and choosing to record it. Through illustrations, diagrams, and written word the journal comes to life as you make deeper connections with plants, animals, and the rhythms of nature.
The Nature Journal Practicum is an innovative solution for today’s most prevalent deficiencies: mental health balance, conservation efforts, physical exercise, creativity, and spending time out-doors.
“John Ruskin once wisely said, ‘The highest reward for a person’s toil is not what they get for it, but what they become by it.’ And I love that.
Nature journaling makes us more alive. We can feel most like ourselves outdoors, surrounded by the glory of creation, and each time you prioritize the habits of wonder, exploration, and creativity, you become more appreciative, more aware, and very likely, more humble.”

Last of all, I am available for hire as a documentary photographer.
The Nature Journal Practicum combines my love of Natural History, teaching, creativity, exploration, and time spent outdoors. The result is confident students who are excited to make outdoor discoveries, increase their mental acuity, and record their observations. The practicum is one part lecture, one part local field study.
Currently available for hire as a documentary photographer for stories pertaining to outdoor work, conservation, and outdoor recreation. Details and examples of my work under the “services” menu tab.

It’s true, anyone can pick up a pen and paper and begin to journal on their own.
However, like all class settings, we benefit from learning in groups; You’re able to hear the opinions and thoughts of others and draw on the expertise from those who have spent more time in the field.
The Nature Journal Practicum also connects you to like-minded naturalists in your area, which is important, because having a group to belong to is motivating and provides structure to your new hobby.
A primary goal of each Practicum is to inspire leadership for the establishment of Nature Clubs in your area.

“Why should we not divide our hours of study among a number of different subjects? Especially as a change of occupation in itself refreshes and restores the mind.”
—Quintilian
“The beauty of nature study, and keeping a nature journal in particular, is that you are not limited to any one subject, rather the whole of history and science and discovery are at your fingertips. Nature Study includes art, history, geography, biology, philosophy, physics, mathematics, sociology and anything else you can think of. Keeping a nature journal is good for the mind, the body, and soul. Journaling coalesces the everyday discoveries you make and cements them into long-term memory stores. “ - Meg Jordan, Excerpt from The Nature Journal Practicum
